Mr Lee showed examples of girls and boys on popular sites like Facebook and Myspace and how easy it is to hand over private details to strangers.  We learnt how important it is to keep your account private and only open to friends and family.  If you wouldn’t give your details to a stranger in the community, then don’t put it on the internet for everyone to see.

The presentation that Mr Brett Lee presented showed just how easily an Internet predator is able to get a child's details off social networking websites, and how many kids in the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas give away enough details to be found by one of these predators, when it is as simple as changing some settings.

I was shocked at the high number of adults who wanted to harm kids through playing games.  I took away from the presentation that you should not give out any personal information on-line and not to talk to or message anyone you don’t know.

Thank you for your very informative presentation to our college in 2010.  We appreciated your professionalism and were very impressed with the style in which you structured your presentations to the different class groups during the day.  We have had quite a lot of positive feedback from both parents and students. Some parents took the trouble to telephone and email their thanks to the college for funding such an important information session.  They also commented that in some instances where a parent had children across the different year levels, that the children were discussing their individual sessions and exchanging information, telling each other the different things they had learnt to look out for whilst on the internet.  This is a positive outcome.  Parents also commented that the presentation ‘opened their eyes’; they ‘thought they knew about the dangers’ but did not realise how easy it was for a predator to access their children.  Once again, thank you for a very interesting day.

Brett's presentations are very professional. His depth of knowledge is amazing and the contents are relevant to our students, parents and staff. He has an amazing ability to be able to adapt to each audience and the particular audience needs. The material was thought provoking and confronting, and it was great to see so many students take the information home and discuss it with their parents, who then had the chance to see what was being delivered.
